Family workshop · Made in Mexico
We invent worlds to play in together, and to care for the one we share.
We are La Fábrica Inventiva, a family workshop. As a family, we invent games, stories and objects that bring us back together around a table. Here, imagination has a job: to bring us closer to our children and to the nature of Mexico.
“First, the workshop. Then, the story. And then, your turn.”

From an after-dinner conversation to fifteen Guardians
- An after-dinner conversation
An after-dinner conversation opened the door
It all began with a dad and his two children inventing a game. We wanted to really be together: to listen to each other, to make decisions as a team and to see what could grow out of an afternoon spent together.

“The first audience is always the most demanding.” - The first four
Four Guardians found a table
AXO, the axolotl; BALAM, the jaguar; LUMA, the macaw; and CORAL, the parrotfish. Each character brought a story and a question: how do we care for something we don't know yet?
- Science sits down to play
With biologists from Tabasco, the Wanha' collection was born
Five more Guardians, from mangroves, wetlands, rivers and rainforest: RIZELA, the red mangrove; XIKNAL, the roseate spoonbill; CENTOR, the snook; BRAMOR, the black howler monkey; and MELITA, the Melipona bee. Their names came from a contest. The knowledge of the territory comes from the people who study it up close.
- The game travels
We donated games in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve
In Quintana Roo, where the rainforest meets the sea. The cards of the first collection can also be read in Maya.
- Today
The notebook keeps growing
Today the project brings together 15 Guardians and 1200 digital cards. The five newest — ÁMBAR, BALEY, CIMA, INIA and CRUM — have just arrived, and the Guardians of Wanha' now have names and stories. We keep inventing so that playing together is also a way of learning to care.
Each new Guardian will be an endangered animal. It will arrive together with the people who study it, the people who live alongside it and anyone who wants to help tell its story.

“Four hands before any box.”

Mexico is something you breathe, not something you announce.
Behind every piece there is a workbench, two very demanding authors and Mika, who makes sure nothing leaves without her approval.
First paw print. It belongs to Mika, who is roaming free around the site. You have found 0 of 8 paw prints.
