Illustrated portrait of BALEY

BALEY, the Mexican wolf

Territory: Sierra Madre Occidental.

If you came here using the code on your card, you already have this Guardian at home: this is its page. Here are its cards, its story and the door to the game.

Caring for her from afar is caring for her too.

A line from the deck.

This Guardian's world now goes with you: the next door you open will remember who you chose.

Three cards from the deck

How much do you know about this Guardian's world?

An encounter from the deck

A member of the team spends her nights following on the screen the dot of a collar crossing the desert. She has never touched it. She only wants to know if the she-wolf made it. “She made it,” she says one day, and writes it down.

Two challenges for this week

With your family, look up one real thing the wolf recovery program does (for example, placing pups with wild wolves). What is it for?
If you hear that 'a wolf killed livestock,' how would you find out where that news comes from, or how the loss was investigated?

The story

New Blood

Her mother does not go with her as far as the stream: the young wolf sets out alone to find her own way, far away, through mountains cut by roads. A journey to carry new blood to where it is needed. The Guardian is the Mexican wolf; the young wolf in the story is named Bruna.

24 illustrated pages. Ages 10 and up.
