A line from the deck.
This Guardian's world now goes with you: the next door you open will remember who you chose.
Its name
Why RIZELA?
It comes from Rhizophora mangle, the scientific name of the red mangrove: its beginning sounds like the Spanish word for “root.” It suits a tree that gives shelter to others, and it opens the story of the mangroves that live inland in Wanha'.
Proposed by Alexander Priego Valles in the naming contest for the Wanha' Guardians. See the results

Three cards from the deck
How much do you know about this Guardian's world?
An encounter from the deck
“Here the snook comes up from downstream and the mojarra breeds among the roots. My father fished the same way. If they cut the mangrove, it's not that the fish run short: it's that they stop being born.”
Two challenges for this week

The story
What the Sea Left Behind
Kena arrived from the coast with a jar full of shells, sure that there is no sea here. In the backwater there is a mangrove that shouldn't be there either. An oyster buried in a riverbank is about to tell her why.
